The sweater weather has just begun, it also means apple picking season is here. Lets do something with those apples other than making it into jam or pies. Today I made Maple Apple Butter and what I needed was maple, apple, and butter, like literally.
It took me a little more than an hour to make this smooth, flavorful, oh-so-good apple butter. Seriously, even I was amazed by how easy it was. This recipe is practically fool-proof.
Ingredients:
9 Apples, peeled, cored, and cut into chunky wedges
3/4 cup Maple syrup (I used medium grade Maple Syrup for more flavor)
1 cup half-salted butter
Cooking step:
- Sterilize (boil) some mason jars,
- Put all ingredients in a saucepan and cook at medium heat for 45 minutes or until the apple chunks break easily (cook longer if you want it thicker),
- Purée with food processor or blender (careful its hot!) until its completely smooth,
- Ladle the puréed apple mix into the sterilized jars and screw the lid tightly.
Happy canning!
